Imminentes

Six sovereign women, witches, goddesses, nymphs, raise their whispers into roars in this piece by Jann Gallois, conceived as a bulwark against the destruction, hatred and violence of the present. A luminous work carried by a shared momentum that lifts us up like a tidal wave.

For Jann Gallois, named co-director of the Agora-Cité internationale de la danse in Montpellier in 2025, there is another possible path besides violence or hatred: that of a healing dance, driven by the force of a vibrant sextet "in which bodies, united in synergy, weave a hypnotic, transcendent dance".

Known for her work blending hip-hop with contemporary writing, the dancer and choreographer delivers a deeply nuanced piece, inspired by the feeling that swept over her while reading Anne Dufourmantelle's Puissance de la douceur [The Power of Gentleness].

An alternation of breaths, rhythms and intensities, and a sequence of combinatorial movements: so many mirrored gestures passing from one dancer to the next… Imminentes electrifies us with the visceral energy of its performers, united like fingers on a hand — and with its incredible message of joy and hope in the face of the world's torments.
