Jody Sternberg - To Eartha with Love

Australian singer and multi-instrumentalist Jody Sternberg pays a jazzy and eclectic tribute to cabaret icon Eartha Kitt.

Accompanied by her compatriot David Lewis (Paris Combo) on trumpet, Cédric Piromalli (piano), Benoit Dunoyer de Segonzac (bass) and Patrick Fileul (drums), Jody Sternberg, "the most Parisian of Australian singers", pays tribute to the woman Orson Welles described as "the most exciting woman in the world!". The show revisits Kitt's often provocative work – from early jazz standards like "C'est Si Bon" and "I Want to Be Evil" to more recent disco hits such as "Where Is My Man" – in both English and French, featuring compositions and new arrangements by Sternberg and Lewis.

"There is this wonderfully warm way of welcoming, speaking to people, introducing tracks or showing affection to her musicians. It's plain to see, Jody Sternberg, an irresistibly sincere singer and saxophonist, is a beautiful, great soul. But while her presence is so touching, the songs, whether compositions or standards, achieve this just as well. You only have to look at the audience leaving the concert: everyone is smiling."
