Overview
An instructive and historical plunge into the night of the abolition of privileges. The various social classes are brought together to think about the future. It is a state in chronic deficit, where the richest escape taxation. A regime running out of steam.
A people at the end of its tether, demanding justice and seeing nothing coming. A rich but stalled country, at the mercy of an erratic climate. Such is France in 1789. Until, in a single night at Versailles, everything tips over: the Night of 4 August.
In a quadrifrontal space, Maxime Pambet, the only actor on stage, plays about ten characters. A breathless narrative that gives the sense that History has suddenly accelerated.
