Overview
The Orchestre National de Barbès takes the stage at the Sud-Est Théâtre for a concert blending world music with a wide range of influences.
Founded in the late 1990s around Youssef Boukella and a collective of musicians from both shores of the Mediterranean, the Orchestre National de Barbès has developed a singular sound. The group blends chaâbi, raï and musette with rock and reggae arrangements, carried by a line-up that includes Mehdi Askeur, Fathallah Ghoggal, Maamoun Mekhenez Dehane and Taoufik Mimouni. Their compositions rest on an acoustic and electric instrumentation where mandola, brass, guitars and percussion intertwine.
On stage, the band offers a rhythmic and generous set, designed to get the audience dancing. The collective energy that radiates from the stage has defined their performances since the very beginning. This concert at the Sud-Est Théâtre is aimed at lovers of contemporary world music and sonic crossovers, keen to discover an orchestra that has cultivated the art of fusion for more than two decades.
