Overview
To mark the 40th anniversary of the artothèque, the École des Beaux-Arts de Nantes is exhibiting a selection of early works by its former and recent graduates.
Group exhibition featuring a selection of early works by graduates of Beaux-Arts de Nantes, acquired by the artothèque de Nantes and Le Ring to mark the 40th anniversary of the artothèque des Beaux-Arts Nantes Saint-Nazaire.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the artothèque, the École des Beaux-Arts de Nantes is hosting a group exhibition of works by former students of Beaux-Arts de Nantes. Over the years, the artothèque has become a place where the echo of these early works still lingers.
"Là où subsiste encore ton écho" (Where your echo still remains), a reference to Alain Bashung’s song "La Nuit je mens", revisits the collection with a selection of works acquired by the artothèque de Nantes from the 1990s to the present day.
This exhibition reinforces the primary mission of artothèques in encouraging young creation and production, while demonstrating their unwavering support for emerging artists. For these young artists, these works are very often the first to enter a public collection.
Designed for all audiences, from local residents to schoolchildren, and from babies to seniors, this proximity of art to the viewer is uniquely characteristic of artothèques.
By moving away from the traditional museum exhibition space, the collection takes over the local area and immerses itself in the everyday lives of citizens.
