Overview
Laibach is a Slovenian band founded in 1980 in Trbovlje, then in Yugoslavia. A major figure on the European industrial and experimental scene, the band is also one of the founding members of the Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK) artistic collective.
Since its beginnings, Laibach has developed a radical universe combining music, performance, visual arts, and political reflection. Its monumental aesthetic subverts the codes of power, propaganda, and totalitarian ideologies to better question their mechanisms. Musically, the band navigates between industrial, electronic, rock, martial, and neoclassical music. It is also famous for its spectacular reinterpretations of popular songs, notably transforming The Beatles, Queen, and even national anthems through its unique sound identity. With over forty years of career, Laibach continues to release new projects and perform internationally. In 2015, it notably became the first Western band to perform a concert in North Korea.
