Laibach

Laibach is a Slovenian group founded in 1980 in Trbovlje, then in Yugoslavia. A major figure in the European industrial and experimental scene, the group is also one of the founding members of the artistic collective Neue Slowenische Kunst (NSK).

From the outset, Laibach has developed a radical universe blending music, performance, visual arts and political reflection. Its monumental aesthetic appropriates the codes of power, propaganda and totalitarian ideologies in order to better question their mechanisms. Musically, the group moves between industrial, electronic, rock, martial music and neoclassical styles. It is also famous for its spectacular reinterpretations of popular songs, notably transforming tracks by the Beatles and Queen, as well as national anthems, through its unique sonic identity.

With more than forty years of career behind it, Laibach continues to release new projects and to perform internationally. In 2015, it became the first Western group to give a concert in North Korea.
