Le poète de Friville-Escarbotin-Belloy

Discover the vibrant and musical portrait of Gilles Defacque, the poet-clown of Le Prato. A luminous tribute to an unclassifiable artist, blending laughter, tenderness, and poetry.

Born on August 9, 1945, in the Somme, Gilles Defacque was a clown, actor, poet, cartoonist, director, co-founder/director of Le Prato, Théâtre International de Quartier, in Lille. He passed away on December 27, 2024.

To keep his work alive, Sylvain Roux has chosen texts by Gilles Defacque, with the agreement of Patricia Kapusta, which describe a subtle blend of daily life and the absurd, observed through the lucid and doubtful gaze of a great clown on a world that isn't quite right.

Thanks to moving images filmed in the last months of his life by Arnaud Chéron and Souleymane Bachir, we rediscover Gilles Defacque in all his antics, his poetic strength, and his creative energy until his last breath, all accompanied by music improvised on the spot by Emile Rameau on drums and percussion, and Sylvain Roux on reading, flute, and melodica.

Both met Gilles every summer at the Uzeste Musical festival.
