Overview
An opera from the lyric repertoire, Les Contes d'Hoffmann, staged at the Espace Saint Pierre, a theatre in Neuilly-sur-Seine.
Les Contes d'Hoffmann is an opera, a lyric genre in which singing and music carry the narrative on stage. The title refers to the fantastical tales of E.T.A. Hoffmann, whose world serves as the starting point for the plot, which follows the poet Hoffmann through several love stories.
The show is hosted by the Espace Saint Pierre, a theatre in Neuilly-sur-Seine, where it takes the form of an operatic performance on stage. The tone is that of opera, with an interplay between the fantastical and the dramatic that flows directly from the subject.
The genre appeals to audiences devoted to the operatic repertoire, but also to those discovering opera and wishing to enter that repertoire through a work that is both popular and rich in contrasting moods.
