Formed in 1993 at the instigation of Souleymane Koly, the female ensemble Les Go originated from the Kotéba artistic structure in Côte d'Ivoire. The group's repertoire is distinguished by the use of numerous West African languages, including Malinke, Bete, Songhai, Bambara, Khassonke, and Nouchi, as well as French. This linguistic diversity is accompanied by polyphonic vocal arrangements and a rhythmic approach blending Mandinka traditions with contemporary urban influences.
On stage, the formation combines singing with precise choreography, perpetuating the tradition of total performance developed by Kotéba. The performances highlight the camaraderie of the female singers and dancers as well as the dynamic nature of their percussions and vocal harmonies.
