Overview
19 July 1900, in the middle of the Bois de Boulogne, a dozen athletes prepare to embark on a crazy race: the marathon of the 2nd modern Olympic Games. An event whose organisation was so chaotic that it has fallen into almost complete oblivion.
Convinced that this race nevertheless played a major role in the history of sport and Olympism, a chorus of artists and athletes decides to bring it back to life for us.
This quest propels the group into a narrative that allows us to understand the political and social context of the event, and to discover other significant facts from these 1900 competitions: the entry of women into the Olympic Games, Etienne Jules Marey's scientific research on movement, and the fierce struggle of a multifaceted character: Pierre de Coubertin.
In addition to bringing extraordinary athletes and performances out of oblivion, this story invites us to question the origin and essence of the sporting gesture.
