The secret meeting where the fate of Paris was decided.

On the night of August 25, 1944, Hitler ordered the total destruction of Paris.

At the Hôtel Meurice, headquarters of the German military governor, General Dietrich von Choltitz was preparing to execute the orders.

Shortly before dawn, he received an unexpected visit from Raoul Nordling, the Swedish Consul General.

The diplomat, at the risk of his life, had only a few hours to change the course of history: to save Paris and its inhabitants from inevitable annihilation.
