LES PEINTRES AU CHARBON [The Pitmen Painters] Written by Lee Hall and directed by Adrien Popineau, "Les peintres au charbon" tells the story of miners who, in 1930s England, discover painting.

Immerse yourself in the true story of English miners in the 1930s who, almost by chance, discover painting and develop a genuine passion for art. In interwar Britain, they quickly take up the practice, create their own works and name their movement: The Ashington Group.

On stage, five men and two women bring this singular adventure back to life, inviting the audience to witness the birth of these artists and become privileged witnesses to their learning process.

From the mine to the galleries, their journey questions social determinism and the place of creativity in our lives.

Carried by an evolving staging and an immersive soundscape, the show highlights these men's transformation, proving that creativity transcends social class and borders.
