Little Barrie

The trio Little Barrie, a prominent figure in British independent rock, is back in Paris for a series of concerts. Expect an energetic performance at La Maroquinerie.

Little Barrie, founded in the early 2000s, is a British band from Nottingham, primarily known for its distinctive blend of psychedelic rock, blues-rock, and garage rock. The trio consists of Barrie Cadogan on guitar and vocals, Lewis Wharton on bass, and the late Virgil Howe on drums, whose passing in 2017 marked a hiatus for the band before their return with a new drummer, Elliott Andrews, for recent tours. Their sound is characterised by Cadogan's incisive riffs and a solid rhythm section, creating an atmosphere that is both raw and melodic.

Their career is punctuated by several critically acclaimed albums, including their debut, *We Are Little Barrie*, released in 2005, which laid the foundations of their sonic aesthetic. They also gained notoriety by composing the theme music for the series *Better Call Saul*, which exposed their music to a wider audience. Over the years, Little Barrie has maintained a consistent musical identity while exploring different facets of their style, following in the footsteps of bands like The Black Keys or Tame Impala for their modern approach to rock tinged with blues and psychedelia.

On stage, Little Barrie is renowned for the intensity of their performances. The band favours a direct, no-frills approach, where instrumental virtuosity and raw energy take precedence. Audiences can expect an immersive live experience, driven by Barrie Cadogan's charismatic presence and the trio's cohesion. Their appearance at La Maroquinerie, an intimate venue in the 20th arrondissement of Paris, promises an appreciable proximity to the musicians, allowing all the nuances of their powerful and textured sound to be captured. It's an opportunity to discover or rediscover a band that, despite challenges, continues to proudly champion authentic and uncompromising rock.
