New York Swing 4tet
Eliz Corbett has two loves — Jazz and Paris.
Overview
Eliz Corbett has two loves — Jazz and Paris.
Ever since she caught the jazz bug during her college years near New York, where she hung out with Kenny Barron's students, Eliz has been completely hooked. But it is in Paris, her adopted city, that she truly learned how to sing and improvise over famous jazz chord changes.
For this American native, 'jazz standards' are timeless lyrical songs written by the virtuosos of Broadway's golden age.
Consequently, she delivers them to the audience with as much respect for the original composition and the poetry of the lyrics as she has freedom for personal expression.
Aided by a warm vocal timbre and a generous stage presence, Eliz and her band offer a joyful and comforting bubble of humanity.
Eliz & her New York Swing seized the opportunity to invite a prestigious soloist: trumpeter and composer Jean Gobinet, with whom Eliz has sung in a big band setting.
Seasoned musicians Vinh Lê on piano and Michel Rosciglione on double bass form a rhythm section that is as powerful as it is in sync. Elizabeth Corbett: vocals Jean Gobinet: trumpet Vinh Lê: piano Michel Rosciglione: double bass
