Olivier De Sagazan

Ages 14 and up. Created in 1998 and performed all over the world, Transfiguration is a performance in which visual artist Olivier de Sagazan, trained as a biologist, transforms himself into a living sculpture, pushing the boundaries of art.

On stage, dressed in black, he covers his face with clay and paint before our eyes, gradually disfiguring his identity to bring forth hybrid creatures, somewhere between man, animal and indefinable entities.

His movements, both frenzied and precise, sculpt his body live, each layer of clay revealing a new essence, a new form. "I am stunned to see how much people think it's normal to be alive. My whole aim is to convey the very strangeness of being here," he says.

Inspired by the worlds of Antonin Artaud, Samuel Beckett and Francis Bacon, Transfiguration stands as a shamanic ritual, in which the artist, working blind, explores the depths of his identity and of the human condition.

Between virtuosity, mysticism and animality, this performance is both captivating and unsettling. " Libération. " Le Monde. " The Guardian. Disabled access bookings: 02 28 22 24 24.
