Inspired by pioneering Korean-American visual artist Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, Bits Torn From Words by Peter S.
Shin makes use of Roomful of Teeth's vocal eclecticism for a dizzying dive into anxiety syndromes and their both physiological and psychological reverberations — even dissecting the foundations of the Korean language.
Gabriel Kahane, meanwhile, leverages his own experience as songwriter-performer to make Elevator Songs a true anthology of melodies showcasing the respective qualities of the ensemble's eight voices.
