Saian Supa Celebration

The collective Saian Supa Crew, a pioneer of French rap, is back on stage for a unique celebration. Catch Sly Johnson, Vicelow and Specta for a vibrant tribute to their musical legacy.

The Saian Supa Crew, formed at the end of the 1990s, left its mark on French hip-hop with its originality and creativity. Initially made up of six MCs – Sly the Mic Buddah (Sly Johnson), Vicelow, Specta, Leeroy Kesiah, Féniksi and Sir Samuël – the group was born from the merger of three separate collectives (Explicit Samouraï, OFX and KDD). This diversity of backgrounds forged a unique style, characterised by technical flows, finely chiselled lyrics and innovative vocal polyphony, far removed from the clichés of rap at the time. Their first album, 'KLR', released in 1999, was a genuine shock, propelling the group to the forefront of the scene with tracks such as 'Angela' and 'La Preuve par 3'.

The Saian Supa Crew stood out for a musical approach that broke down genre barriers, integrating jazz, soul, funk and reggae influences into a solid hip-hop foundation. Their productions, often sophisticated, and their varied themes, ranging from social commitment to introspection, demonstrated the richness of their universe. Following the success of 'KLR', they continued to explore new sounds with 'X Raisons' (2001) and 'Hold-Up' (2005), cementing their reputation as an innovative and daring group. The premature death of Féniksi in 2007 marked a turning point, leading to the group's split and to its members pursuing solo careers.
