Sekou

Following a much-noticed appearance at Rock en Seine, Sekou will return to Paris at the Alhambra on 12 December. Sekou has established himself as one of the most promising voices of the new British scene. Originally from Leicester, he grew up immersed in the music of Whitney Houston, Prince, Chaka Khan, Amy Winehouse and even Ariana Grande, before discovering a genuine passion for singing in church. After studying at East London Arts & Music (ELAM), he caught attention with his cover versions shared on social media, which have amassed several million views. His powerful, distinctive voice quickly opened many doors: performances at Glastonbury, support slots for John Legend and Reneé Rapp, an appearance on Jools Holland, a nomination for the BRITs Rising Star award and selection for the BBC Sound of 2024.

His career took on a new dimension when he began a collaboration with Justin Bieber, notably singing backing vocals on the track "Too Long" from the album SWAG. Today, Sekou is opening a new chapter with his mixtape In A World We Don't Belong. Working alongside Theron Thomas and Jeff Gitelman, he develops a more assertive universe, nourished by Motown, soul, funk and influences ranging from Luther Vandross and The Jackson 5 to Prince and Tyler, The Creator. Driven by the first single "Catching Bodies", this new project reveals a Sekou who is freer, brighter and more self-assured, now paving the way for his long-awaited first album, scheduled for early 2027.
