Sekou

After a highly acclaimed appearance at Rock en Seine, Sekou will be back in Paris at the Alhambra on December 12th. Sekou is establishing himself as one of the most promising voices on the new British scene. Originally from Leicester, he grew up immersed in the music of Whitney Houston, Prince, Chaka Khan, Amy Winehouse, and Ariana Grande, before discovering a true passion for singing at church. After studying at the East London Arts & Music (ELAM), he gained recognition through his covers published on social media, accumulating several million views. His powerful and unique voice quickly opened many doors for him: performances at Glastonbury, opening acts for John Legend and Reneé Rapp, an appearance on Jools Holland, a nomination for the BRITs Rising Star, and selection for the BBC Sound of 2024.

His career took on a new dimension when he began a collaboration with Justin Bieber, notably contributing backing vocals to the track “Too Long” on the album SWAG. Today, Sekou opens a new chapter with his mixtape In A World We Don’t Belong. Surrounded by Theron Thomas and Jeff Gitelman, he develops a more assertive universe, nourished by Motown, soul, funk, and influences ranging from Luther Vandross and The Jackson 5 to Prince and Tyler, The Creator. Carried by the first single “Catching Bodies,” this new project reveals a freer, brighter, and more confident Sekou, who is now preparing the ground for his highly anticipated debut album scheduled for early 2027.
