At the crossroads of classical music and contemporary jazz, Volcan invites listeners to gentleness and inner journeying. The airy, sensitive world of pianist Madeleine Cazenave invites contemplation. Her elegant, melodic compositions draw as much on the classical tradition, from Satie to Ravel, as on the improvised jazz of Keith Jarrett and Tigran Hamasyan. Like landscapes in motion, her two previous albums left a strong impression with their colours and textures, moving between minimalist groove and pop melancholy. For her new creation, Volcan, the pianist is joined by her longtime musical partners, double bassist Sylvain Didou and drummer Boris Louvet, to explore the fascinating imagery of lava and ash. A rich and immersive sound experience in which the visual dimension will have its full place.
