Yerai Cortés

Emerging star of contemporary flamenco, Spanish guitarist Yerai Cortés dazzles with his virtuosic and sensitive playing.

Trained in guitar from a young age, Yerai Cortés first made his mark in tablaos—concert cafés dedicated to flamenco—in his native city of Alicante, starting with one run by his father.

A child of the trade, he emancipated himself at 17 with a move to Madrid, where his reputation grew as his playing strengthened in the city's establishments.

Yerai Cortés is already recognized and hailed as a great of the new flamenco scene—he receives the Guitarra con Alma prize at the Jerez Festival in 2021 and collaborates with many musicians from very diverse backgrounds—when his journey takes an unexpected turn.

It is through cinema that his talent crosses borders, with a superb biographical documentary by Madrid rapper C. Tangana in 2024, La guitarra flamenca de Yerai Cortés, which captures the artist's fervor and cracks.

Its soundtrack is also Yerai Cortés' first album, a virtuosic and eclectic embodiment of duende, to which the musician will soon give a long-awaited follow-up.

Opening act: Tarta Relena Folk and experimental, the Catalan duo Tarta Relena explores Mediterranean repertoire, in polyphonic voices and minimal electronics.

Childhood friends Marta Torrella i Martínez and Helena Ros Redon form Tarta Relena in 2016, following a shared experience in Barcelona choirs where Baroque repertoire and Catalan folk songs meet.

This taste for blending eras and borders infuses the striking music they produce today as a duo. Released in 2024, their third album is sung in Catalan, Latin, Greek, Castilian or Italian, drawing its themes and melodies from different oral repertoires around the Mediterranean.
