A wonderful melting pot where styles and influences merge, the British scene sends us the vibrant jack-of-all-trades corto.alto, head seeker of inventive and sharp jazz, and the elegant trio Mammal Hands, craftswoman of hypnotic and moving music.
Attention, young multi-talented genius at work! alto is the project of multi-instrumentalist Liam Shortall, who juggles dexterously between bass, guitar, computers and trombone – the instrument with which he honed his craft within the Scottish National Orchestra.
alto is also a prolific composer. After the release of Bad With Names in 2023, his highly acclaimed first album, the young man set out to publish 30 singles over 30 days in spring 2024.
A way to lighten his hard drive with style and prepare the next chapter: released at the end of March 2026, the track "WHODIS" – recorded with American rapper Mick Jenkins – is both a beautiful stylistic cascade and assurance of a bright future.
