About — The artist
Black Market Karma is an English rock band originally from London, now based in Dover, Kent. Formed in 2011, they are known for their prolific discography of 11 studio albums, including one collaborative album.
The band is led by its main songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Stanley Belton, who lived in the band's 'Cocoon' studio during its formative years, writing, performing, recording, and self-producing these albums.
Their music draws from 1960s guitar and pop, with touches of psychedelia and fuzz rock, as well as influences from folk, blues, traditional Indian music, hip-hop, and lo-fi electronica.
In 2015, the band supported The Warlocks on their UK tour. In 2023, they were invited to join The Black Angels on their European tour. Belton has collaborated with artists such as Sonic Boom, The Underground Youth, and Tess Parks.
Belton is known for his use of undisclosed open tunings, with band members often switching guitars during live performances to accommodate these tunings.
