Calogero

Calogero, full name Calogero Maurici, born on 30 July 1971 in Échirolles (Isère), is a Franco-Italian pop rock singer, composer and musician.

He began in music at the age of sixteen by forming the band Les Charts with his brother Gioacchino and Francis Maggiulli.

In 1999, he launched his solo career with the album Au milieu des autres. He became popular with his second record, Calogero, released in 2002 and driven by En apesanteur. For the video of this first hit, almost as well known as the song itself, Calogero starred alongside the young actress Mélanie Doutey. In early 2004, the singer received the NRJ Music Award for francophone male artist of the year, followed by the Victoire for male performer.

His third album, released in the summer of 2004, was particularly noted for the tracks Face à la mer — featuring rapper Passi —, Si seulement je pouvais lui manquer — which reached the top 10 in France and French-speaking Belgium — and Yalla. The album was certified double platinum within eight months and diamond within eleven months. The singer's concert at Forest National (Brussels) in March 2005 was released as a double live album, Live 1.0.

The albums Pomme C (2007) and L'Embellie (2009) followed. In 2010, a compilation, V.O.-V.S., gathered his earlier hits. The following year, his concert at the Dôme de Paris - Palais des Sports was recorded for the album Live symphonique.

In 2012, Calogero co-founded the band Circus with, among others, Stanislas, Philippe Uminski and Karen Brunon, which produced a single album.

In 2014, he returned as a solo artist with the album Les Feux d'artifice, driven by Un jour au mauvais endroit and Le Portrait. The following year, he released a third live album, again recorded, like Live 1.0, at a concert at Forest National: Live 2015.

He then released four further studio albums: Liberté chérie (2017), Centre ville (2020), A.M.O.U.R (2023) and X (2024).
