About — The artist
Colonel Reyel, real name Rémi Ranguin, born on 5 October 1984 in Saint-Mandé, Val-de-Marne, is a French author, composer, and performer of dancehall, French pop, contemporary R&B, and French electro, originally from Guadeloupe. His singles "Celui..." and "Toutes les nuits" both reached number one in the French singles charts in 2011. His album "Au Rapport" also topped the sales charts for two weeks following its release. In June 2011, his album was certified platinum.
"Colonel" is a nod to the nicknames of dancehall singers such as Admiral T, Lieutenant, Caporal Nigga, Kporal Maïky, and Sergent, who use a military rank in their name. The pseudonym "Reyel" is a Creole word meaning "real".
