About — The artist
Courtney Barnett (born 3 November 1987) is an Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist from Melbourne. Known for her atypical picking guitar style and contemplative garage pop, narrating the gloom of her childhood in suburban Sydney, she attracted the attention of the North American and UK music press in October 2013 with the release of a double-EP, A Sea of Split Peas, and promising concerts at the CMJ Music Marathon. At the latter, Barnett was cited by both Rolling Stone magazine and The New York Times as a notable artist.
Her debut album, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, was released on 23 March 2015.
