Dany Boon (/da.ni bun/), born Daniel Farid Hamidou, is a French actor, comedian, director, screenwriter and producer, born on 26 June 1966 in Armentières (Nord).

He first came to prominence on stage as a comedian during the 1990s. In 2008, Dany Boon achieved huge commercial success as actor, director and producer of the popular comedy Welcome to the Sticks (Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis), which drew 26,700,012 admissions worldwide, surpassing the admissions of La Grande Vadrouille (1966), and 20,489,303 admissions in France — the best result for a French film at the national box office, and the second-best overall, just behind Titanic (1998).

Since then, he has gone on to make a string of successful popular films as screenwriter, director and producer, such as Nothing to Declare (Rien à déclarer, 2010), Supercondriaque (2014), Raid dingue (2017) and La Ch'tite Famille (2018).

He has also built a career as an actor, working with renowned French filmmakers such as Jean-Pierre Jeunet, Danièle Thompson, Pascal Chaumeil, Julie Delpy and Yvan Attal.
