Isabelle Adjani, born on June 27, 1955, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris, is a French actress and singer.
She began her cinema career at 14, then joined the Comédie-Française at 17 in 1972, quickly becoming a star.
She has received the César Award for Best Actress five times, for Possession, L'Été meurtrier, Camille Claudel, La Reine Margot, and La Journée de la jupe. She has also been nominated twice for the Academy Award for Best Actress, for L'Histoire d'Adèle H. and Camille Claudel, and was awarded the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival for Possession and Quartet, and the Silver Bear for Best Actress at Berlin for Camille Claudel. Throughout her career, she has alternated between periods of intense activity and breaks.
In July 2026, she was convicted on appeal for aggravated tax fraud and money laundering, with a reduced sentence compared to the initial ruling.
