About — The artist

Joshua Redman is an American jazz saxophonist born February 1, 1969 in Berkeley (California).

Like his father Dewey Redman, Joshua Redman has specialized in tenor and soprano saxophones. A deep student of jazz history, he has expanded his practice to include contemporary, popular, and classical music, incorporating elements of funk, hip-hop, and pop. His quartet of the 1990s became famous, with musicians like pianist Brad Mehldau, bassist Christian McBride, and drummer Brian Blade who went on to shape jazz in the decades to come.
