About — The artist
La Rumeur is a French hip-hop group made up of Ékoué, Hamé, Le Bavar, Mourad and two DJs, Soul G and Kool M. They are from Élancourt and Maurepas in the Yvelines department, and, in Hamé's case, from Perpignan.
From Volet 1 (1997) to Du Cœur à l'Outrage (2007), La Rumeur bucked the usual pattern dictated by the record industry — release a single, then an album, then go on tour. Their discography is built around a triptych structure: three chronological volets, which are solo releases by each of the rappers, except for Volet 3, which brings together La Figure de Paria and Le Bavar (a maxi single); and three albums. All of this was punctuated by several small tours. At the Trabendo concert marking La Rumeur's 10th anniversary, Ekoué announced that, buoyed by their success, the group was preparing a forthcoming trilogy. They held another series of concerts for the band's 20th anniversary, in 2015.
Since 2011, the group has explored other creative formats, publishing medium- and feature-length films as well as books.
