About — The artist
Soprano, real name Saïd M'Roumbaba, born on 14 January 1979 in Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), is a French-Comorian rapper, singer-songwriter, television host and actor.
He started out in rap in 1995 with the group Psy 4 de la rime, which he formed notably with his cousin Alonzo and his childhood friend Sya Styles.
In 2007, he launched his solo career with the album Puisqu'il faut vivre, certified gold within two and a half months and earning him the award for best urban music artist at the Trophées des Arts Afro-Caraïbes. Two further albums followed: La Colombe (2010) and Le Corbeau (2011).
In 2014, his fourth solo album, Cosmopolitanie, carried by the hits Cosmo, Clown, Fresh Prince and Millionnaire, was certified platinum within weeks. It marked a pop-rap turn that he confirmed on the albums L'Everest (2016, including En feu), Phœnix (2018), Chasseur d'étoiles (2021) and Freedom (2024-2025, in three parts).
In film, he stars in the comedy Marius et les gardiens de la cité phocéenne, directed by Tony Datis, released in 2025.
