About — The artist
The Metropole Orkest (literally “Metropolitan Orchestra”) is a jazz and pop orchestra based in the Netherlands, the largest permanent ensemble of its kind in the world. A hybrid orchestra, it combines the styles of jazz, big band, and the classical symphony orchestra. Made up of 52 to 97 musicians, it is versatile across many musical forms and has a “double rhythm section” — one for pop and rock, and another for jazz.
