Osees (formerly OCS, The OhSees, Thee Oh Sees and Oh Sees) is an American psychedelic garage rock band from San Francisco, California. It is led by multi-instrumentalist John Dwyer, a figurehead of the Californian garage scene. The line-up has never stopped changing shape over the years, beginning as a solo freak folk project at the start of the 2000s before gradually drifting towards a sound aligned with garage rock, with the formation of a full-fledged group (Brigid Dawson on piano and backing vocals, Petey Dammit on guitar and bass, and Mike Shoun on drums) around 2007.
Praised for their energetic live performances and the exemplary consistency of their recordings, Thee Oh Sees in this line-up remained active until 2013, the year that marked a first hiatus. An album was recorded solo, the instruments changed hands, and the group reappeared in 2015 with new musicians, including two drummers playing simultaneously. Despite several successive changes in the line-up, this configuration has remained as it is.
The albums released in 2018 and 2019 leaned towards progressive rock with the arrival of a new member on keyboards, Tomas Dolas. Then, in 2020, the group returned to the garage sound with three new LPs.
