About — The artist
Philippe Decouflé, born on 22 October 1961 in Neuilly-sur-Seine, is a French contemporary dancer and choreographer. A popular choreographer, who became famous for staging the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics, he built an eclectic and inventive dance company that has enjoyed great success with audiences since the 1990s. Strongly influenced by the work of Alwin Nikolais, Decouflé creates "total shows", which often include, beyond the choreographic aspect, extensive visual work (costumes, lighting, etc.) as well as the use of video.
