About — The artist
Primal Fear is a German power metal group, from Esslingen, Baden-Württemberg. It was formed in 1997 by Ralf Scheepers (vocals, ex-Tyran'Pace and ex-Gamma Ray), Mat Sinner (bass and vocals, SINNER), Stefan Leibing and Tom Naumann (guitar).
Many consider Primal Fear's self-titled debut album to be the album Judas Priest should have released instead of Jugulator. The first five albums are inspired by Judas Priest, but the group evolves from Seven Seals onward, becoming more melodic and developing a more personal sound. This evolution is even more pronounced with New Religion, which makes even more room for melody, carving out a place for itself among the still heavily present distorted guitars.
