About — The artist
The Quintette du Hot Club de France, sometimes abbreviated QdHCdF or QHCF, is a French jazz group from Paris. It was formed in 1934 by Django Reinhardt and Stéphane Grappelli, together with Louis Vola, Django's brother Joseph Reinhardt, and Roger Chaput, drawn from the band that played the tea dances at the Hôtel Claridge in Paris in 1933. Together they adopted a style blending jazz and gypsy jazz that won over a wide audience. They split up in the period immediately before the war.
