About — The artist
Rick Margitza is an American saxophonist born on 24 October 1961 in Detroit, Michigan, USA.
In 1988, he moved to New York, where he notably played with Miles Davis.
Between 1989 and 1991, he recorded for the Blue Note label. He was notably seen alongside Eddie Gomez, Tony Williams, Bobby Hutcherson, Maria Schneider, McCoy Tyner, and Chick Corea.
In 2003, he moved to Paris and performed with Martial Solal, François Moutin, Louis Moutin, Ivan Paduart, Ari Hoenig, Jean-Michel Pilc, Peter Giron, Franck Amsallem, Manuel Rocheman, and Mike Starmike.
He is part of the Moutin Réunion Quartet as a tenor saxophonist and is a professor of harmony and improvisation at IMEP, a jazz school in Paris.
