About — The artist

The Young Gods are a Swiss industrial rock band from Fribourg, formed in 1985. The original lineup comprised singer Franz Treichler, samples player Cesare Pizzi and drummer Frank Bagnoud. For most of their history, the band has kept a trio format made up of a singer, a samples player and a drummer, despite numerous lineup changes. Treichler is the only constant member of the band; the current lineup also includes Pizzi and drummer Bernard Trontin. Over the course of their career, the band has collaborated extensively with producer Roli Mosimann.

The band's music relies heavily on sampling and sound manipulation; tracks are built from various samples, such as distorted guitar riffs and string sections. Their more recent releases have incorporated elements of ambient and electronic music. Their sampling-based approach to rock has influenced many musicians, including David Bowie, The Edge and Mike Patton.
