About — The artist
Tif (\tif\), stylised TIF, real name Toufik Bouhraoua, is an Algerian rapper and singer active in France, born on 23 May 1996 in Algiers (Algeria).
Noted for his hybrid musical style blending rap, raï, gnaoua, chaâbi, and Andalusian music, his notoriety grew in the early 2020s with tracks featuring introspective and melancholic lyrics, influenced by his personal experiences and his exile from his home country. His first two studio projects, Houma Sweet Houma and 1.6, released in 2022 and 2023 respectively, evoke themes such as identity, nostalgia, and the challenges associated with life in the diaspora. Building on the success of 1.6, he unveiled a live session of the album at the end of the year, which was critically acclaimed.
Alongside his artistic career, Tif co-founded the independent label, Houma Sweet Houma, in 2021 with brothers Adil and Younès Boucif.
