About — The artist

Union Jack is the moniker given to a collaboration between Simon Berry and Claudio Giussani, an English trance producer. The duo focused on acid trance and tech trance, and are closely associated with the Platipus Records label, founded by Berry.

Disillusioned with the music of the 90s, Berry and Giussani joined forces in 1993, initially remixing Nicely's track "Away the Throttle Pedal Stop" before producing their legendary debut single "Two Full Moons and a Trout". Their next single, "Cactus", further cemented their reputation prior to the release of their debut album There Will Be No Armageddon. This album notably features "Red Herring", equally suited for home listening or the dancefloor, having become a popular track in 90s clubs at the time.

The 1995 film Hackers references this group.

In 2008, after a seven-year hiatus, Union Jack (this time featuring Paul Brogden, from POB/Seismic Records) returned with a live performance at the Ultra Music festival, playing their classic tracks. The success of this live show prompted the group to release a new album in 2009, Pylon Pigs, eleven years after their last production.
