Valérie Lemercier, born on 9 March 1964 in Dieppe (Seine-Maritime), is a French actress, director, screenwriter, comedian, and singer.
As an actress, she has participated in several successful comedies such as Les Visiteurs in 1993, Le Petit Nicolas in 2009, and Astérix et Obélix : Au service de Sa Majesté in 2012.
She has won three Molière awards for one-man shows (1991, 1996, and 2001), three César awards (two for Best Supporting Actress in 1994 and 2007, then one for Best Actress in 2022 for her film Aline), and the Victoire de la musique award for Comedian of the Year. As a screenwriter-director, she is also the author of six films: Quadrille (1997), Le Derrière (1999), Palais royal ! (2005), 100% cachemire (2013), Marie-Francine (2017), and Aline (2021).
Throughout her career, she has worked under the direction of numerous French filmmakers such as Jean-Marie Poiré, Alain Chabat, Claire Denis, Danièle Thompson, Laurent Tirard, Valérie Donzelli, as well as the American Woody Allen.
