About — The artist

Véronique Sanson, born on 24 April 1949 in Boulogne-Billancourt, is a French singer-songwriter, composer, and pianist.

She began her career in the late 1960s, and it was in the early 1970s that she achieved success with the songs Besoin de personne and Amoureuse.

Initially in a relationship with Michel Berger, she moved to the United States to live with Stephen Stills. There, she wrote various successful songs such as Ma révérence. Returning to France in the 1980s, it was towards the end of the decade that she released the album Moi le venin, which went platinum.

Over five decades, she has written and composed hundreds of songs, some of which are famous in French-speaking countries, notably Chanson sur ma drôle de vie, Rien que de l'eau, and Vancouver.

Throughout her career, she has received numerous awards and honours, including three Victoires de la Musique and the Grande médaille de la chanson française, awarded by the Académie française for her entire body of work. She is also a Commandeur of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres and a Chevalier of the Ordre National du Mérite.
