About — The artist
Yannick Noah, born on 18 May 1960 in Sedan, is a French-Cameroonian singer and former tennis player.
During his sports career, he notably won the Roland-Garros tournament in 1983, making him, to this day, the only French player to have won a Grand Slam tournament in men's singles in the Open Era. He is also the highest-ranked French player in the ATP (No. 3 in July 1986) and the most titled in singles with 23 titles. In 1986, he was also ranked No. 1 in doubles. He then, as captain of the French Davis Cup team, led the French to victory in 1991 and 1996. He did the same with the French Fed Cup team in 1997. He has been a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame since 2005. In September 2015, he resumed the position of captain of the French Davis Cup team, succeeding Arnaud Clément, and led the French team to final victory in 2017. In December 2016, he succeeded Amélie Mauresmo by once again becoming captain of the French Fed Cup team until April 2018.
He began a singing career in 1991, to which he has successfully dedicated himself full-time since 1998.
