Young Thug, real name Jeffery Lamar Williams (born August 16, 1991, in Atlanta, Georgia), is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter. Young Thug signed his first contract in 2013 with Gucci Mane's label, 1017 Brick Squad Records. He gained popularity in 2014 with his appearances on the hit singles About the Money and Lifestyle, the latter reaching number 16 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 2017, he appeared on Camilla Cabello's hit Havana, which reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2020, he featured on Travis Scott and M.I.A.'s song Franchise, which also reached the top spot. The following year, in 2021, he appeared on the hit Way 2 Sexy by Canadian rapper Drake with American rapper Future, which also reached number 1.
Arrested in May 2022, Young Thug was accused of being the leader of a gang involved in murders, drug trafficking, and violent carjacking. After two years in detention, he pleaded guilty in October 2024. In 2025, he announced an album that would mark his return to music, and in September 2025, the album UY SCUTI was released.
