About — The venue
Located within the Cergy-Pontoise agglomeration, the abbey known as « Notre-Dame-la-Royale », more commonly called Abbaye de Maubuisson, is a former Cistercian convent founded in 1234 by Queen Blanche of Castile. Transformed into a contemporary art center in 2001, Abbaye de Maubuisson produces both monographic and collective exhibitions in direct engagement with the site. The abbey develops its production and mediation around three pillars that structure its identity: contemporary creation, heritage, and the natural environment.
