About — The venue

The Marché des Douves is a market hall, in the Baltard style, located in Bordeaux.

Built in 1886 by architects Lacombe and Durand, between the large hall of the Capucins market and the old ramparts, the hall housed a market that remained active until the end of the 1980s.

After serving as a bicycle storage facility, the venue was temporarily lent to associations and residents before beginning its rehabilitation as a community centre in 2014. The new Marché des Douves was inaugurated on 19 September 2015 by the mayor of Bordeaux, Alain Juppé.
