About — The place

The Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine is a public industrial and commercial establishment (EPIC), under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture. Its mission is to promote French architecture and built heritage in France and abroad, and to showcase emblematic works of French architectural heritage and international contemporary creation.

Located in the “Paris wing” (or north-east wing) of the Palais de Chaillot, situated on Place du Trocadéro-et-du-11-novembre, in the 16th arrondissement of Paris, near the Trocadéro and Iéna metro stations, the Cité de l'architecture, with its floor area of 22,000 m2, is the largest architecture centre in the world.

The current Cité was inaugurated on 19 September 2007 and brings together the Musée des monuments français, the École de Chaillot, the Jean-Louis Cohen contemporary architecture library, and the contemporary architecture archives centre.
