About — The place

The Musée national de la Marine is a French maritime museum. It has been a public administrative institution since 1971, operating under the supervision of the Ministry of the Armed Forces. It functions as a network and is established in five cities: Brest, Paris, Port-Louis, Rochefort, and Toulon. It also has a Conservation and Resource Centre in Dugny, where the library, documentary collections, public museum archives, photographic studio, and restoration workshop are located. The collections cover maritime and naval history. Its network structure also allows for the exploration of local maritime cultures.
