Cité internationale universitaire de

The Cité internationale universitaire de Paris (CiuP) is a foundation that, across its 40 Parisian houses, hosts nearly 6,000 students, researchers, artists and high-level athletes from around the world.

Almost all of these residences are located in the south of the 14th arrondissement, within the 34-hectare quadrilateral bounded by the boulevard périphérique and the boulevard Jourdan, between the Porte de Gentilly and the Porte d'Orléans. Three residences lie outside this quadrilateral ("hors les murs"): the Fondation Haraucourt is on the Île-de-Bréhat, in Brittany; the Résidence Lila, inaugurated in 2005, is on avenue René-Fonck, in the 19th arrondissement of Paris;

the Résidence Quai de la Loire, inaugurated in 2007, is in La Villette, also in the 19th arrondissement.

Around twenty of these residences are described as "rattachées": they are managed directly by the CiuP. The others, such as the "maisons de pays", are described as "non rattachées": with their own legal personality, they are run by foreign states, higher education institutions or other public partners.

A decree of 6 June 1925 recognised this private-law French foundation as being of public utility.

In 2015, the Michelin Green Guide awarded the Cité internationale universitaire de Paris its first star.
