Musée de l'histoire de l'immigration

The Musée de l’Histoire de l’immigration (Museum of Immigration History) is a French national museum situated in the Palais de la Porte-Dorée in the 12th arrondissement, in eastern Paris. It has been open to the public since October 2007 and was officially inaugurated on 15 December 2014 by President François Hollande, seven years after its opening. It has been administered by the “établissement public du palais de la Porte-Dorée” since January 2012. Its official name is “Musée national de l'histoire et des cultures de l'immigration” (National Museum of the History and Cultures of Immigration).

According to its statutes, the institution's mission is to “collect, safeguard, highlight, and make accessible elements relating to the history of immigration in France, particularly since the 19th century; thereby contributing to the recognition of the integration journeys of immigrant populations into French society and evolving perspectives and attitudes towards immigration in France”.

It is the only museum dedicated to immigration in France. It features a permanent exhibition presenting two centuries of immigration history, combining historical, anthropological, and artistic perspectives. In addition, the museum regularly offers an artistic and cultural programme: temporary exhibitions, conferences, concerts, cinema, theatre, workshops, and more.
