Overview
SONGS OF THE SHORESMudarra, Encina, Falla, Lorca, Granados, Obradors, Arab-Andalusian songs, Judeo-Spanish songs and Kabyle songs…
Amel Brahim-Djelloul and Thomas Keck invite you on a musical odyssey along the shores of the Mediterranean, bearing witness to a heritage shared between different cultures. The journey moves between Spain and Algeria, across centuries and borders.
The programme brings together, in particular, Spanish melodies from every era: the timeless ones of the legendary Al-Andalus or of the Judeo-Spanish community, but also those of our modern age, around Manuel de Falla, Enrique Granados and Federico García Lorca. Kabyle songs – notably those of the great Idir (who died in 2020) – complete this fascinating exploration of the extraordinary riches of the cultures around the Mediterranean.
The alchemy between the luminous timbre of Amel Brahim-Djelloul and the finely chiselled playing of Thomas Keck offers an intimate reinterpretation of these masterpieces, in which the guitar becomes by turns orchestra, lute or percussion.
